So, about 5:00 am this morning, I wake up to the entire house shaking. First, I think I'm still dreaming and then I think someone is trying to open the garage (this is at my parent's house and my old bedroom is right about the garage) but that the door is stuck; hence, no noise. Once the house stops shaking, I check the clock and it read 5:10 am so I crash for another hour.

Well, I get into work today and see this:

We had an earthquake!!!

Yes, a 3.6 is nothing compared to CA but, for Rockville MD (where the epicenter was) it's huge. We don't deal with earthquakes on a daily basis here.

:-) This one didn't last very long at all and it really was more of a "why is the house shaking?" than a "oh! Earthquake!" moment. So you didn't miss much.

I live in CA, and I don't live with earthquakes on a daily basis, either. They happen when they happen... they just happen more often out here. Well, along the quake fault lines they do - I just live between them, and rarely feel them unless they are huge.

I think the last time we had an earthquake nearish by was in 1997. (Although, I seem to recall one in Virginia about five years ago or so. I think it was only a 2 something but I remember everyone getting freaked out about it.) This 3.6 was the biggest in 50 years for our area. Daily basis was a bit of an exaggeration but we don't even deal with them on a yearly basis. :-)
