"A very special tea will take place at Green Spring Gardens on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. The Kyoto Costume Institute (KCI) Tea celebrates the National Cherry Blossom Festival and costs just $27 per person.

Our slide show will transport you to Japan to view the fabulous collection of one of the world's leading repositories of haute couture, the Kyoto Costume Institute. Hear about KCI's mission to research three centuries of western fashion and accessories, from the 1750s to present day. With holdings of over 11,000 items - from outerwear to underpinnings - KCI provides cultural exchange through international exhibits, loans and collaborations. Following the program, a full-service traditional English tea will be served in the 1784 Historic House.

Advance purchase is required. Call 703-941-7987 for reservations. Green Spring Gardens is located at 4603 Green Spring Road in Alexandria Va. For more information about this lush garden oasis visit us online."

I know. I originally said bustle but I think everyone has Regency or something psuedo Regency, right? Plus, the house was built in 1784. I haven't gotten my ticket yet and I plan on calling on Monday. Has anyone tried to get their tickets yet?

I haven't - but it does sound awesome! Count me in! I don't want to get a ticket though and find out I'm the only one going, or if they sell out, we don't want people stranded. Should we find out how many spots are left, or try to reserve them at once if we can get a headcount?

Regency sounds great - I have no bustle gowns now, but I finally have one regency gown. Or maybe I'll do 1780s since that's like my whole wardrobe? ;-)

1780's works! I was just going with simple. :-)

I'll see how many spaces they still have Monday morning (I doubt they are open tomorrow for questions) and let everyone now.

It'd be nice to get another wearing of my regency though too! :-)

Awesome, thanks for volunteering to call! I have the event on my calendar so I don't schedule something else for then!

I've got a horse show that day, otherwise I would totally go. Have fun!

Just so you know, the tea on the 3rd has been sold out for weeks, but there might still be tickets left on the 10th, which is when I will be going. Though I hadn't planned on going in costume.
