As most of you know, I work the night shift. So I got home at 6 ish this morning, let the pups out, fed 'em, and went to bed around 7:20. At 8:27 this morning, I heard what I thought was scratching at the door. I looked over to yell at my poor pup ('cause she does that when she decides she doesn't want to sleep all day) only to see her front limbs ridged and her hind legs curled up beneath her. Yes, Miss Ginsie had another seizure.

I, of course, freaked. I tried to pet her and screamed for the nearest adult human in hearing range. She went totally ridged so I picked her up and went out the the living room (thinking that some one else might be out there) and Dad came down the steps. He managed to hold her when she started to make the jerky movements again and I ran to go get Mom. Ginsie did come out of it after a few minutes and it seems that she's okay. She gave everyone kisses, even Shiloh, and walked around dazed for less than 10 minutes.

I did take her back to the vet but her blood work is normal. The thing that gets me is that this is almost exactly a month after the first one. We might run more tests but, as the vet said, to run every test in the book would run me in the thousands of dollars...and I just don't have that right now.

So she seems okay now. She's been following me around and doesn't seem the least bit concerned about anything more important that Squirrelly or barking at Shiloh.

Did you guys get her a cat scan? I hope you are doing ok and that it isn't something terribly permanent or serious. Get well soon, Ginsie.

Not yet. For dogs, cat scans are actually more expensive than for humans. Right now, we are taking her to a neurologists (@6 pm) and I got the vet to test her thyroid. I'm really praying at this point that it's just Hypothyroidism (which, as I'm sure you know, is very treatable).

She's had a few more seizures since yesterday morning. The one you know about at 9:40 pm, another at 4:50 am, and yet another today at 2:40 pm. ....what the heck is it about the :40-:50 time slot?

She's recovering slowly. She seems "confuzzled" for lack of a better way to describe it. Shes following close to her humans which is fine by me and Shiloh is actually helping to keep an eye on her. (Which is great when she come out of the seizures and is in "drunken pup" mode)

Oh my goodness! I hope you're able to find out what's wrong soon, and that it will be easy to fix! Poor Miss Ginsie!
