Mom's wardrobe update
May. 27th, 2011 09:01 pmI bought Mom some really neat shoes at Walmart of all places. They have the general correct "shape" and are very easy to convert to looking period. Honestly, I added two loops and a ribbon and they look very 18th c. She loves the way they feel because they are supposed to be a comfort shoe so the shoes, at least, are done. (Pictures later)
I need to recut the stays because I made them slightly too small lengthwise. I thought I had so I didn't sew 'em up. I just held up the front piece and noticed it needs about another inch. They will still be out of green silk.
Mom says she *adores* this style: http://tidenstoej.natmus.dk/periode1/dragt.asp?ID=69
So she'll end up in a few jackets like that and petticoats. It's a good style for her. Another good thing is that she doesn't want prints -just solids and stripes which makes finding a fabric she approves of MUCH easier.
