Sewing Dilemma
Jul. 14th, 2011 05:59 pmSince I won't be at the A&S on Monday for Pennsic, I can either keep working on the semi secret project and have it ready -still- by then OR I can work on other stuff -like the pink dress and the blue dress- for Pennsic and have more clothing for Pennsic. This way, I can also have the semi secret outfit done by September rather than August and just wear it to the Atlantia 30th Anniversary...which is far more tempting.
The semi secret outfit is something I've been working on for over a year now and the dress part is slowly coming together. The embroidery part of it is finally almost done. If I focus exclusely on it, I can get it done in time for Pennsic -like I originally planned. However, it's slightly pointless if all I'm going to do is wear it to Atlantia Court rather than display it. I think it might get more notice at Atlantia 30th Anniversary (Sept 3rd) given it's heraldic.
The other outfits I had put on the back burner were my tropical wool 1550's peasant Italian dress -that is the same as the pink linen one I've worn a few times but the pink linen is falling apart. The linen is too loose a weave to really be used as a dress -at least a structured one. Wool will work better and I already have the fabric.
The blue dress is part of the semi-secret outfit but it was a lesser part. I wasn't going to cry if it didn't get done in time since the embroidery is the most important. However, if I do finish it, I'd have another dress to wear to Pennsic.
I also have another aqua dress that I need to finish. I wasn't planning on finishing it at home since it's a pretty simple finish. The skirt needs to be gathered and attached to the bodice. The bodice is an old one -the skirt I had with it got bled on, like hot pink somehow bled on to the aqua blue silk. Pretty, but not period to wear.
So, I guess, I probably should put the semi secret project on hold for now -work on the other outfits- and just finish it up before September rather than by August...
