I am so upset with my sewing machines right now. For some reason the upper green thread decides it doesn't like the sewing needle and leaves it. This is a huge problem when I'm trying to actually sew. And, of course, it didn't do this until the last hour of the project. No problems sewing up the bodice, the trims on the skirt, the skirt itself, the different parts of the sleeves -all fine. it's when I want to put them together -something that should take 20 minutes on the sewing machine- that the machines all decide they don't want to work anymore. Both the back up and the vintage machine.

I was going to have a lovely green and bright pink 1810's Regency gown but that's gone out the window now. I guess I'm stuck with either purple and white or the red dress...again.

I'm going to have to take the machine in...which I hate. It's always ridiculously expensive. Why should I pay $125 for a machine when I can buy a new one for that that will work for a year? Maybe that's what I'll do, just get a new machine that will last for at least until Christmas...

Have you tried changing the needle? Sometimes the simplest thing will solve big problems!

Yeah, didn't work. The backup machine was giving me problems before. I just need a new machine. :-/

Get an industrial machine. Seriously. If you sew as much as it sounds like you do (which is way more than me), it's well worth it. My industrial will literally make a clean stitch through bone if the needle doesn't break - the thing is a TANK. Tiny home machines just can't stand up to constant costume work. They explode. And then I have my old White for the fancier stitches (it's actually surprisingly rare that I need, say, a zigzag or a hem stitch when doing costumes)

Because yeah, if you're spending that much fixing the same machine EVERY YEAR... it isn't worth it. It's a lemon. Let it die.
