I got my new sewing machine today! So, of course, I had to test it out. I decided to go with something simple. Something that I could easily use but also something that, if the machine was a total lemon, I wouldn't cry much over. I made a linen chemise. After all, the one thing I can always use more of is another 16th Century chemise.
The machine is quick! I was really surprised at first. It's also a bit more basic than my old one -not as many stitches, only three needle settings- but that doesn't bug me at all. The one problem that I've run into with it -which is really just an annoyance on my part- is that you can't do cuffs easily on it. The bottom part is too wide. However, it's an annoyance and not anything against the machine itself.
I'm going to wait until December to write a real review on it. I think by then any problems with the machine will have made themselves known.
Anyway, I now have another linen chemise! Yay! I'm going to finish the 1810's dress (grr) and then work on possibly a red early 1500's Italian with black velvet trim.
