Why can't every Monday be like this?

I had a lot of fun today. Given the chance of rain, I decided that my 1510's blue linen Venetian was a bit more practical that any of the silks. I wore that with a pink "silk" sash and it turned out to be a very good choice. It was MUGGY. But I was very happy since I was wearing all linen and had a good fan.
I almost made a b line for the fried peasant bread when I got to Faire. The fried peasant bread is cheap and delicious. It's $2 and you can sprinkle a ton of cinnamon and sugar on it (or honey, or a bunch of other spices. They have fruit fillings as well but I think those are a couple of bucks extra). I was quite happy to sit there and watch a scene from the Scottish Play play out.
After talking to people and eating fried peasant bread, I went to the hairstick booth to find it...gone. I recalled something about it not being there this year much later in the day. It was a shock not to see it. I'm told she'll be back next year.
Then, I waited for the Mediaeval Baebes to take the stage. i got a perfect seat and I do have video that I'll post as soon as I figure out what I did with my camera cord this time. It was a great performance and I'm glad I caught them. They will be preforming in Alexandria but it's $33 a ticket!
I really just went around Faire after that and tried to take in as much as I could. I did get a new fairy for my car (very important!) so I have a new feathery thing in my windshield (so I can tell which truck is mine..). I saw Shakespeare's Scum who aren't doing Henry the V this year. It's Hamlet and Richard III. I saw their version of Hamlet (which is very hilarious as always) before I realized those were Rain Clouds coming in. By that point, it was about 3:30 and Ginsie needed her afternoon meds anyway.
So, on the sewing front: I got another embroidery almost done. Woohoo! I also made...a dress! It's a vaguely tudor-esque gown. I was trying a new sleeve pattern I developed that worked out very well and a new way to attach the sleeves/shoulder straps. I'm going to sew up the inside of the dress, punch out a bunch of eyelets and sell it as a Halloween costume because of the trim I used on it.
Basically, I took a large rectangle, folded it, and sewed up the three sides to 6" from the fold. I then sewed the upper sleeves on to the 6" gaps and pulled the lining upper sleeve into facing upper sleeve, giving the illusion of a folded back lower sleeve. It's rectangular rather than bell shaped but I think the overall look is actually pretty good. -And it might be easier for some people who are new to the tudor look to attempt without fears of messing up badly.
I then sewed the shoulder straps on separately to the bodice of the gown and measured them based on the upper sleeve arm. This ended up working out well.
I'm sure that all sounds confusing and I'm horrible at explaining it right now but I had a rectangle for the lower sleeve, a typical generic fitted upper sleeve, and a separate strap for the shoulder that was not built into the bodice. BTW, if you are horrible about the whole armscye thing like me when drafting patterns, having the shoulder strap separate helps a GREAT deal.
Anyway, that was my day. How was your Monday?
