When at a political fundraiser with my Dad when I was about 18 (either in High School or just out of High School): "So, you are his mistress or something, right?"

I'm his daughter you sick bastards! Sadly, this still happens whenever I go anywhere with my Dad. It's not that the age difference between us isn't readily apparent - it is. Everyone guesses that he's around 55 and I'm around 25 - which isn't our real ages but the 30 year gap is pretty close. Unfortunately, it's a commentary on the very disturbing world we live in and the ready acceptance of the sexual over the familial. I know of brothers who have been told that they are "such a cute couple!" 0_o

I've gotten the same reaction when I'm out and about with my Dad, especially when I was a teenager. Well I've never been asked if I was a mistress but I have been called "Mrs. White" (after they see his credit card) and we've gotten "those" looks.

'Cause only lovers can walk arm-in-arm, hold hands or have fun with each other in public. Fathers and daughters are only allowed to be estranged or merely tolerate of each other. Our society is so sad.

The people at the fundraiser knew Dad was married (knew he had children too...) and knew I wasn't Mom so... Yeah. Disturbing.

I really want to buy my own island and have my own country sometimes. Want to come? Free drinks at 5 pm every day! Oh....mint chocolate martinis.....

O_o. Wow. What is wrong with people? Thinking something like that's bad enough, but why on earth would you ask somebody that? That really is disturbing.

(Derp, replying to the wrong things...)

It happened again a couple of years in a way. I went to a Halloween party with both my Mom and my Dad - I make their costumes and they like showing them off and me off. One of Dad's friends offered to take a picture of all three of us together. Another guy at the party came up and said "Oh, Ménage à trois!" before snapping a picture. Very, very disturbing. Enough, that I have no desire to go back even though the vast majority of the people at the party know exactly who I am.
