Medieval Lion

Photoshop is only on the desktop. :-)

I've been planning on redesigning the living room curtain fabric that I still hadn't bought for a while. The problem was the computer died and I had to build a new one. My laptop just doesn't work for photoshop well.

This design is based on an extant 16th C Italian silk at the Royal Ontario Museum that I love. I changed the design, to fit a slightly more modern look. The lions in my design are heraldic in style and I added the fleur de lis. The colors, of course, are meant to fit into my living room. Blue and gold just don't work with silvers and pinks.

So, this may not have been sewing, but it was sewing related. Oh, and I used my LivingSocial deal for G street. (Thanks [livejournal.com profile] kysrinaria!) I ended up with a yard and a half of red silk organza for my Titanic gown and some various trims for it as well. By the way, I price compared their sparkly fabrics again. I kid you not, they have a poly net embroidered in almost the same way as one of the bridal fabrics at Joanns for $180. (Or something close to that. I just recall a lot of ridiculous prices on things that were a)not silk and b)it would be cheaper to either go up to NYC and get them or fly out to LA and get them) I only recognized it because I bought the one at Joanns since it had a neat scalloped trim and I used it in my Ever After Steampunk gown. At Joanns, it is about $24.99 or something else a bit on the high side for Joanns but still reasonable.

Now, to go sew!
