Someone stole my usb cable for my camera...again. I'm really get sick of this. This means I have no means to download the nearly 200 photos (at this point) and video from the past couple of days.
I sent out the jerkin/waistcoat, linen shirt, and the linen collar to the museum up in Hudson, NY. According to tracking, the USPS tried to deliever it on friday but no one was there to sign for it. (Friday was the gov't holiday for those working M-F. It's Veteran's day.) But since the USPS celebrates Veterans days on the actual day (11-11, thank goodenss that makes sense in both the US and the rest of the world! :-) ) it wasn't delievered on Sat either. Hopefully, it will be delivered on Monday or the guy I've been talking to will pick it up.
I have pictures of the finished product, but without the usb cable ::grumbles some more:: I think my Dad stole it but he's in Australia right now. Anyone nearish Sydney by any chance?
On Saturday I went to Dun Carraig's Baronial birthday. The theme was "Hollywood" which gave me an excellent excuse to wear my "Just Breathe" gown. Of course, I had to go all out and wear my matching "fur" slippers. :-) They are wooden high heals out of leather with fur trim. Okay, let me explain my thought process on this one. In the very beginning of the movie, there is a comment made by one of the Brothers Grimm. He states "Some swear the shoe was made of glass, others fur. I guess we'll never know." In the movie, of course, they have the glass slipper with the just breathe gown. I decided to go with a fur slipper. :-)
There was a "costume contest" for the best interpretation of a Hollywood movie. The winners were myself, King Henry VIII (complete with Anne Boylen's head. It was really funny.), and Robin Hood...just like in the 1930's movie. (I really would have loved it if his wife wore one of those hillarious Maid Marion gowns from the movie. Silver Lamè? hehehe...) I recieved a bunch of white linen as my prize for my gown. ::very big grin:: I was exteremly happy since well...me and linen? What a more perfect combo!
But Robin Hood felt bad because he said his outfit took him 10 minutes to make and mine clearly did not. (I got 2nd place, he got 1st 'cause he had "documentation". It was a picture from the movie) So he gave me the little leather bound natural journal book he won. I was really surprised and wasn't sure what to say other than "thank you". (not that I'm great with conversation....a few of you at the renn fest probably know this. :-) )
There were also fighting activities I was interested in. Not just the normal hit the other guy over the head thing. They had ax throwing. THat was extremely popular since the "target" was OBL. There was also heavy fighting and archery. But my fav was fencing. I'm really interested in getting back into fencing. I haven't done it in nearly a decade now but I'd love to try again.
So this brings us to today...well sorta. You see, I'm completely tired of my hair...or was. ::watches a couple of jaws drop:: Let me explain. On Wednesday my hair was dark brown. On Friday it had a reddish tint to it making it look Auburn. After spending most of the day outside on Saturday, my hair had golden highlights. Yes, I know. There are people that would KILL for my hair...which is why I got it cut and am donating it to locks of love.
I didn't go super sort or anything like that. Even with the braided 15 inches that was cut, my hair still comes to about mid back. The most dramatic change really was the hair color. My hair is now black. Did I mention I hated the natural highlights? Whenever I put my hair up, the hair at the scalp was a totally different color than the end hair.
When I went to the stylist, she looked at me funny when I showed her the picture of the hair color I wanted. She compared the picture to the hair at the scalp since I had my hair up in my typical bun. I explained that it wasn't really that color and she'd notice the dramatic differance when she took out the bun. She did. And she noticed right away that my hair was about three different colors.
I probably should add that my hair isn't/wasn't damaged. It's just, well, like the stylist said "camaflouge". The picture of me on the day of wrong is really accurate. I think those pictures are a couple of journal entries back in case anyone wants to take a look.
Anyways, I told her I wanted 10" off to donate to locks of love. She took off a lot more than that but it's okay. My hair was pulled back into a pony tail about halfway down my back, braided, and cut. I then wanted it dyed and wavy. I did NOT want a perm. I learned that lesson when I was 13. I just was tired of my hair being only a step away from bone straight. So I figured she'd put it in soem loose curlers or something like that.
Anyways, she said that it would be about $64 for the hair dye 'cause my hair was still so long. I figured it would be about that much, if not more, for my hair so I had no problem with that. It took four bottles of dye for my hair. Originally, the stylist (i think her name was Cruzia. I don't like jsut referring to the lady as the stylist) thought it would only be two bottle but my hair had other plans. It sucked up the hair dye like a sponge. (SpongeBob SquarePants!) So, I sat around and read through Vogue and thought about how some of the styles are totally ridiculous and a couple of them look like easy sews and by the time I was through with the magazine and attempting to figure out patterne for some of the dresses I liked (oh yeah, like there are at least two of you out there that I can think of off the top of my head that wouldn't do the exact same thing. :-p :-D )it was time to wash the dye out and see how well it took.
It took. Its still a hint of brown but it's mostly black. For style, I decided to go with a Liv Tyler look. I want waves! Turns out...my hair seems to do those naturally. What I guess happens is I'm normally in so much of a hurry to get my hair up, I twist the curls right out of 'em. The only time that typically stay is after I braid my hair. So, all Cruzia did was put in some moose and let the stuff dry.
Anyways, I'll put up all the pictures from the past week whenever I go to best buy and get a new cable. It will probably be tomorrow or so...

Date: 2006-11-13 05:31 am (UTC)Anyways, it was past my bum almost. I do have pictures of how long it was. I really just wanted it dyed and trimmed...and then I remember my last trim.. I lost six inches of hair to the last trim. My hair regrew plus some in under 6 months. So...I decided that probably by Pennsic, it should be down to the small of my back.
The funny thing is that the stylist said it should grow out even thicker!
