Random updates

isabelladangeloSo the desktop computer....yeah. The internal hard drive died. I knew it was on it's last legs but I was hoping it would live for at least a couple more months. Oh well. I bought a new one on amazon and it should get here tomorrow. The new one is 1.5 TB which is a lot better than the 160GB I had in the computer. I tried another spare drive -one I knew had issues- and, yeah, not pretty. I do have a spare 20GB for emergencies but there isn't much of a point when the new 1.5tb will be here tomorrow. Of course, this means installing everything again. Thank God I made a back up on the external hard drive and have the "if I lose this, I will cry" either backed up on CDs or online. Y'all, if you are reading this, you have a computer. Back up all your old papers, photos, and other things you love on to a cd or online or another computer. Or all three. Yes, it is always possible to get some of the information on a hard drive back but it's way too much of a pain to normally deal with.
On the sewing side of life, I made my Edwardian chemise; tried on the corset and the dress top. When I wear this or any Edwardian dress for that matter, I will need help! Trying to get the corset tight by myself just...doesn't work well. I tried and...yeah. Not good.
I've been distracted by Edwardian day wear lately and I think I might add another dress to the plate of "Must be done by June". I have a pattern for a mid-teens era day dress that is really from the mid-Teens era. I also have some shirtwaist patterns from the Vintage Library that I could conceivably adapt into early teens era dresses. (I could also run upstairs and see how the heck the dresses were made and make a mock up based on those but that would be work!) We'll see.
Oh well, back to sewing! Or sleeping. Or eating apple pie. I have lots of apple pie based on a 16th century lenten recipe. It's good but different. I think it calls for more powdered sugar on top with cinnamon...
