I finally got around to creating a pattern for Mom's short stays. Mom's back is killing her and she is going to a doctor but I thought a good pair of 1810's short stays might also help. They'll have a "modern" look beneath any clothing but they also will support her, force her to sit up a bit straighter, and allow the upper back muscles to relax a bit. All of which she badly needs.

I used my 1790's stays as a base and then added where I believe the inserts for the front should go. Now that I have some sort of mock up, I'll see if it actually fits her tonight. Movie night! I'm dragging her to go see Mirror Mirror. :-) Need to see the costumes!

On the allergy front, I do have an appointment with an allergist. I'm getting re-tested for everything so I'll look like a walking pin cushion for Crown. I'm thinking long sleeves....

Now, for crown, I'm contemplating making one of two outfits. One is the pink surcote with the gothic fitted gown in lavender wool beneath it. The surcote would be lined in fur. It's what I was planning on making until I took out one of the dupattas I have yesterday. I keep thinking that this rather army looking green silk net duppata that is completely embroidered in gold would make a lovely overskirt to a 1500's/1510's Venetian dress made out of the blue/gold/green shot silk I have. Yes, not period, but who cares? It would be pretty! I can't decide!

For Fort Fred, I was going to piece together a lovely little jacket but then I saw the temps for Saturday. The fabric I was going to use is way too thin. BTW, right now, it's supposed to be in the upper 50's as a high. It's been staying around the high 50's/low 60's for a week. I suppose this means I can make the gray jacket after all and wear my quilted petticoat?

Oh, good to know the forecast...I'm thinking cranking out those mitts I had on the brain might be a good idea! Mitts are Good Things...

Yes, mitts and muffs and other such things might be necessary for this trip! It will be cool at Fort Fred.
