I love this so much! It's clearly of the maid, mother, and crone. The crone is wearing a blue dress with a modern sleeve style (modern for 1510's) but the dress itself is cut in the older style of the last century. The mother has this fabulous button up dress (Oh my! I want one! I think the teal wool would look lovely with silver buttons) and clearly has something beneath it to give her that shape (a thicker kirtle?). The maiden has the fashionable dress on, with the hip slit to show the kirtle/petticoat beneath it. Her sleeves are of the cut velvet (brocade?) material rather than the long same material sleeves as her mother and grandmother. What a great way to see the styles worn by different ages at the same period in time!
