This is what the future Elizabethan kirtle looks like. Unfortunately, It's going to be WAY too warm to even attempt to make and wear for this weekend. It's a lightweight wool but it's not quite good for 100F. The good side of this is that I now have the time to hand sew the entire thing.

Instead, for this weekend, I'm finally going to sew up some purple linen I have and make another early 16th C Italian dress.

The purple linen. I'm going to leave it plain and probably still wear the green apron with it. And a very big sun hat....I'll only be there for a couple of hours, thank goodness!

I lust after the trim. Lust. I would trip a person and scatter their sewing basket for that trim.

Isn't it fab? I think I got it at an SCA silent auction for a couple of bucks because no one liked the colors. It's part of the reason why I think that dress deserves to be handsewn. You should see some of the other trims I've gotten at SCA auctions just because people didn't like the colors...
