What I should be working on

This is my inspirational image for my next project. This weekend is October fest but I think I'll work on this dress for next weekend. I have a German gown that will work perfectly fine for this Sunday - I want one for next Sunday. ;-)
So far, I want sleeves like the pink sleeves of awesomeness in that link and everything else has already been decided LONG ago. I think a year ago, really.
I have the gold fabric for the dress. The red velvet...but what goes under the dress is always a subject of debate.
My plan is simple: Use the Meyer dress as an inspirational image and make a white wool underdress with a black velvet "top" or brustflect. Although there is a lot of good evidence that the brustflect was attached to a flap at the front that was then laced over, I think that there were probably two or three different ways the dress style was constructed. If you look at the first inspirational image, the servant lady has the stylized top part or brustflect go all the way around, over the shoulders, and to the back of gown. You can see the brustflect extend to the back here as well. That would suggest that it's actually some sort of top or bodice like garment.
So, I'm making it extend all the way around simply because I know no flap of fabric will ever look good on me without a heck of a lot of support. However, a nice bodiced dress that side laces? That should be fine. ;-) Plus, once the red Cranach gown is over the white wool dress, I doubt anyone will notice any difference between the two different approaches to the style.
The wool is washed, the velvet and gold are out, but I need sleep!
