The second pair of bodies fit! Yay!

After the first stays were way too small, I took an old pattern I drafted years ago that apparently still works a lot better than I thought it would. I sewed these today and I'm really happy with how they came out. No, they aren't perfect but they give the correct look and they are comfortable. Since no one will actually see them with the dress on, I don't care too much about the outward appearance.

Ginsie helped. :-)

Beyond making the stays, I also cut out the entire dress, sleeves, forepart, and undersleeves. Since the fabric is pre beaded, I had to handsew the pink silk to attach it to the rest of the underskirt. Beads and sewing machines do not mix. Ever. I learned that lesson quickly. It's much easier to just straight stitch the fabric to whatever else you are sewing and then put the non-beaded stuff through the machine.

Tomorrow, I'm going to sew up the brown velvet dress and hopefully post pictures of that. It shouldn't take too long since it's all cut out and it's a pattern I've used many times before. I just took a modified version of the McCalls Tudor pattern from years ago. If you draft out the darts and princess seams, it's not a bad pattern.

Right now, I plan on working on the sleeves a bit more and then going to bed. :-)

Oh, and I baked cookies!

Puppy was helping. Actually, puppy is still helping right now by acting as a lumbar pillow. :-)

Thank you!

I was so glad the pattern still fit! And I discovered a problem with the cookies. I eat them. This is a problem.

Thank you! I just hope they last longer than the old ones that I'm going to try and salvage next week.

Looks great - and OMG, you must be crazy-fast with your eyelets. Just those eyelets alone would take me all day!

I actually didn't sew any before taking the picture. :-) Right now, I'm trying to get all the big stuff done as quickly as possible so I can do the little handsewing stuff this week. I hope to have the eyelets done by Wednesday.
