Why I didn't sew today.

So aroudn 2:30 am I was awaken to the sounds of whimpering. This isn't too odd, so I let Ginsie outside and then went back to bed. Normally, she just hops right back up on to the bed and curls up at my feet but she kept crying. So, I let her out of the room and went back to sleep.
Around 11 am, I woke up (night shift) and saw Ginsie. I got dressed, went downstairs to check email, came back up around noon when Mom came back from teaching. As I came up the stairs, Miss Ginsie at my heels, I heard an usual sound. Turns out Ginsie was sick and showed it by vomitting on the wood floor in the hall. (Graphic, sorry!) Mom told me she had been sick earlier as well.
At first I thought it was something she ate and she'd get over it. So, I started to make lunch a bit later when I noticed Ginsie was shaking and panting. I called the vet and got an appointment for 2:30 pm. Ginsie was shaking so bad, (she has epilepsy so I was really nervous), I left early and got to the vets at 2:00pm.
Everyone at the vets office knows Ginsie really well. We've been to this vets office (they have four doctors right now) since sometime in the mid 90's. They know who I am. They know who Miss Ginsie is. They know my entire family, our pets, and where we live. :-)
Ginsie was shaking, but happy to see all her "friends", while we were waiting. She loved being able to see the kitty cats through the glass to their "hotel". Even the tech, Sullivan, noticed Ginsie was hotter than normal when she came over to pet the furball.
I told Dr. Jamie all the problems Ginsie had been having all day. Her temp was just barely in the realm of normal (103 F) and she had a tender tummy. So, the doc gave her a couple of shots and took some blood for tests. What the Vet thinks it is is Pancreatitis. ::sighs::
So, this means more meds, another new diet (Dr. Jamie gave me some new food to try on Ginsie), and watching her constantly. She vomitted again this evening and started shaking again. She had stopped shaking after I got her home thanks to the shots.
Luckily, Dad (of all people!) is taking care of Ginsie. According to Mom, he actually sat on the floor with her and petted Ginsie. He took her out for a walk and is worried about "that stupid kickin' dog". :-) (No, Dad would never EVER actually kick her. That's just what he calls small dogs.)
So, Ginsie is sick. Her white blood cell count if really really high. Her blood test on her pancrease shows that is just barely within normal. And I'm stuck at work. ::sighs::
Oh...and the vet bill? $250. That isn't a typo. So this is why I didn't get any sewing done. It's hard to sew when your puppy is sick as can be and doesn't even bother to beg for the potato chips your brother is eatting!
