Plaid dress time!

Here's the dress I want to recreate. I really love it for some reason. It's not my normal time period nor is it my normal colors but I adore those ribbons on the sleeves.
I found the silk looking poly for $4 a yard and bought what they had left - 3 2/3 yards. Barely enough to eek out a dress. The skirt is two 42" panels that I'll sew together at the sides and then pleat to the bodice. It will only be 120" wide skirt but that's okay - they had skirts that small in the 1860's. I only had just enough fabric to cut out the bodice and sleeves. If I screw them up, there isn't anything I can do about it. I'll simply make the skirt, make a swiss waist, and a white muslin spencer/shirt - then cry because I really like the dress!
So far, I did find the tassles to go on the front and I found some buttons that match wonderfully to the buttons on the extant one...except one little detail. The buttons I have are gold. So, I did what any crafty person would do - I yanked out the black paint and painted the buttons black. We'll see how well they turned out in the morning.
