I have Windows 8 on my desktop and I loathe it.  Seriously, keep on to Windows 7 as along as you possibly can.   Windows 8 is just a atrocious as you've probably heard and a whole lot worse.

The latest issue is one that was caused by the 8.1 update.  Sure, you get a very useless start button, but you lose your ipod.  That's right, my desktop will no longer recognize my iPod at all.

At first, I thought it was the iPod.  They can be finicky things.  However, I restarted it, did everything to it - I even uploaded an old version of iTunes in case that was the issue.  Nothing.  Then I looked at the forums.  ...pretty much anyone that has a Gen 6 iPod nano back to the iPod classic can no longer synch their iPod if they have Windows 8.  Wonderful!

Luckily, I can still use my laptop which has Windows 7.  I just have to start uploading all the songs to that.    However, what about the people who don't have three working (and a couple not working) computers in their homes?   What if they only have Windows 8 on all their computers?   It looks like some of the solutions to the issue *might* work some of the time.  No one can tell why or what is going on really.

All I know is...I want Windows 7 back..

Do not give it up. I'm sure there is a new Windows in the works - this one is HORRIBLE!

hubby's laptop has 8, and I can't imagine using 8 without a touchscreen, that interface is annoying! (his desktop is 7, and I am XP)

I can't see it would make much sense even with a touchscreen. I have to search every single time I want calculator or good ole cmd prompt - at least once I find cmd prompt I can use that to bring up programs old school style.

you can get to the calculator without typing on the touchscreen, it works like a smart phone I am told. bizarre to me. Lots of hand gestures, but you can get to the apps with gestures.
