I bought a solar shower. This one specifically. It had excellent reviews and looks like it will be able to put up to the abuse I will give it for a long time. It arrived while I was in NYC so I decided to test it today.

It's 100% plastic but it's that heavy plastic that they make pool floats out of and inflatable furniture. The bag is huge and I filled it up using just the garden hose. Pennsic water is well known for its rust content but it works fine for showering - just don't wash your whites in it. I left it out on the front porch and took a nap.

About an two and half hours later, I went to check on it. According to the temperature gauge, it's 110F. It feels pretty warm when I turned the nossle on. Not bad! The entire back of the actual bag is clear. The water sits on the black underside of the silver front to the bag. It's that black underside that helps to heat the water up. It may not be the propane shower I'm used to at Pennsic but I don't think this will be bad either. The propane shower, although it was nice once you figured out how to light the stupid thing, was a pain in the neck trying to get to light without burning the entire tent down. I won't have that issue anymore. :-)

I like hearing about all your camping prep and all the stuff you're getting-- awesome!

Thanks! I actually had a lot of stuff already - it's just that normally the group I camp with has a lot of the infrastructure. However, that infrastructure is OLD now and has been falling apart for years. Since, this year, I'm the head of the camp (and one of the very few that will be camping up at the top of the hill this year), I figured it was better just to get some new things rather than dig out some of the older junk in the group trailer. Luckily, the group trailer isn't mine. I don't have to clean that thing out!

I agree! Medieval tents should not have be burned down by defective propane stoves. They should be burned down by an angry mob wielding pitchforks and torches. Sounds to me like your trading up quite nicely here. :-)

The kids next door seemed to love the new solar shower. :-) I had them wash their hands with it and give me their opinion.

One Pennsic, I got the propane shower to work once - the rest of the time, it was cold water. Everyone in camp was having issues with it and I think only one or two people managed to get more than two hot showers out of the thing during the entire two weeks. Despite it being not as technologically advanced, you are right, this is trading up.

Many of my friends are setting up Zodi showers in their camps but I'm finding that as I get older, my desire for things which require a lot of on-site setting up has begun to fizzle. I admire your solar shower bag. Have you settled on a shower tent yet?

I'm still going between two design plans. The deciding factor will be whether or not I do have an ez up in the shed. I think I sold all of them last year. If I don't, then the PVC pipe plan will go ahead. If I do, then I'll just use that.
