Fabric.com is having a sale again. All of their Lightweight linen blend fabric is $3.89 a yard. It's good for summer dresses. They also have this almost Elizabethan looking knit gauze (97% cotton) that I think would look awesome made into a chemise...so I bought 5 yards of it. :-)

Just for [livejournal.com profile] mistressfetch: Just read the job titles. Don't read what they actually are, just the titles. Once you get to Beer tester, it gets uh...into either very poor editting or someone has a sense of humor...

I worked on the fairy gown a bit more this morning. It's coming along nicely. I think I'll take part of the dark bodice and make it into a bustle (I know, it sounds wierd). I have tons of this poly purple organza I bought YEARS ago that I can make into a "flowing" back layer. The top of the organza will be hidden by a semi circle piece of the beaded bodice...so it will look like a clip on veil attached to the back of the dress. Does that make sense? Anyway, that's my plan for the back right now.

Mom's dress will get cut out tonight. I hope...

Here is a beautiful example from the 14th century showing OMG, not only PINK but PURPLE! And she doesn't look to be royalty! Okay, so maybe a lady in waiting but still, that lil combo blast two of the most popular "Renaissance/Medieval Myths" right out of the water. Anyways, I like it because it's pink and purple together and my inner 6 year old is demanding it. I already have a pink surcoat that is kinda like that...... Hehehe...go like that to an SCA event? Oh my, that would be fun.

It came out looking very German. It's a front lacing gown done in the early 16th c style. I added black velvet trim from a project that went awry a few months back. I think I'll wear my green cap with it tomorrow. Feel free to take pictures but y'all have to post them or at least send 'em to me so I can post 'em.

I'm now convinced the purple part of the fabric is cotton/silk or some other silk blend and the gold is acrylic. I used up almost all of the material. The biggest scrap is about 3" by 6". I was going to add shoulder rolls to make it look Italian but I just didn't have enough fabric left over. So, it's German if anyone asks. It goes with the theme of the renn fest this year if nothing else.
