A really busy week!

So, Thursday. After going to the congressional inquiry...umm..I mean co-op board interview, I went to my last night of work at the tips line. I will no longer have to explain to people that, yes, that really is a scam and no, they shouldn't cash the check. Thanks, God! I gave everyone hugs but I am so happy to be out of there. I can't take stupid for very long and after working there for a week, I really began to think that almost the entire population of the world had lost it's marbles. (We'd get "tips" from all over. Some were good, most weren't.)
Friday morning I drove home giddy. I loved being out of there. That changed when I got home. I started to get so nervous about the co-op interview that I really couldn't go to sleep. So, I finished spinning some dark aqua blue yarn I had been working on and began to finish up a little hand held drawstring bag I had been knitting for the past week. The top part is white wool that I got with my new spindle. The wool didn't seem to be carded well or was just naturally "clumpy" because you can clearly see and feel a difference between the clumpy white wool on the top of the bag and the smooth soft deep aqua blue on the bottom of the bag. I need a new bag for going to events because I can't fit everything into the little satin drawstrings I use to have. I need one that is big enough for the epi pen as well as the checkbook, keys, and a pen to write with.
So, anyways, I was knitting...and knitting...and knitting. I didn't get sleepy until around 8:30. I pretty much crashed and had given up hopes that we would close today because the lady who was supposed to call me hadn't done so yet. Mom woke me up around 9:30 and exclaimed that the lady had just called and stated that they unanimously voted me in! I didn't go back to sleep for a half hour. :-)
Then around noon, my realtor called as asked if I still wanted to close today at 3. Umm, heck yeah if we can! So I had to RUSH! Mom and Dad were leaving for NC so I said goodbye to them, got dressed and went straight to the bank to withdraw the downpayment. I then got to meet up with Jen (my realtor) at the house and do a final walkthru. Most of the work had been completed and the stuff that hadn't will cost me all of $2 to do myself so I don't mind. I probably should add that I really wanted to get to Target to get a shower liner before heading to the house but I had zero time. The only reason this is important is explains what happened later when I started to decorate the bathroom. :-)
As we were leaving I saw a lady pull up next to me and figured it was one of my neighbors. It turned out later she was the former owner of my house. I drove the 5 minutes to closing. Now, please remember, when I said "got dressed" this is me and I'm in my typical t-shirt and jeans. ...But so was my realtor (sweater and jeans). We went upstairs and waited for a few minutes. The only person who wasn't in jeans was the seller's agents. She said the only reason she wasn't in jeans was because she had to go somewhere that morning. For something that typically is a business type situation, it was amusing.
I signed the paperwork both for the house and for the co-op. One of the reps for the co-op was there as well, in jeans. :-) The only thing that had problems was the stuff from the bank. It wasn't anything big, just confusing (like job titles and it said the house was built in 2007). But, for the most part, everything went really well considering the poor lawyer only had 3 or so hours to prepare. I got my keys and happily left. Jen gave me an awesome decorating book and a $25 gift certificate for Sears. I gave her a hug and started to drive over to my house!
It's mine! :-) Which means I get to decorate how ever I want. ::insert evil laugh here:: About a week ago, I bought the cutest stuff for the pink bathroom. I had the black and pink floral shower curtain but I needed at least a trash can to go with it. I bought that, a soap dispenser, a soap dish, and a toothbrush holder. They are all cream with gold accents that have "fashion" related designs on them. The soap dispenser has a pink dress on it, the soap dish has a purse and perfume; I think the theme was supposed to be Parisian fashion because the trash can has flure-de-lis as well on it. It all goes together well.
Before I actually got to my house, I did stop at CVS to get soap and a shower liner. i learned that the CVS near my house must be slowest CVS ever. I did get everything I needed and went on over. I parked in my new parking spot (yes, they have assigned parking but there is tons of visitor parking too so it's not that bad). I got to call Mom and Dad (and a few other people :-) ) from inside my new house. I decorated the bathroom. At some point on Friday, I got painters tape and a painting kit as well as matching towels for the bathroom.
On Saturday, I dragged my baby brother to the house. We went to Home Depot first and got the paint for the addition, the wall in the living room, and the guest bedroom. I still wasn't sure what color I wanted for my room. We spent all day taping up and painting downstairs. Joey also taped off upstairs. The addition is now teal ice with "ocean" carpeting; the living room has pomegranate red on one wall (the rest I'm leaving white because with the dark wood trim it looks very Tudor).
On Sunday, I got my oldest little brother to help too. But oh, what an interesting start to the day. I let Joey borrow my car last night and as we going out the door, I asked for the keys. He didn't have them; I didn't have them, so we conducted a search. My darling baby brother locked my keys in my car. I pretended to strangle him. So I had to call up AAA and wait an hour for them to come so we could go to the house and paint. We didn't get going until 2:30 pm. (Noon mass, 1:11 AAA call, and Lee wanted to finish up watching the latest episode of Battlestar we had on DVR)
We again stopped to pick up paint and I went with Havasu. It's a deep blueish tealish twilight blue color. Lee and Joey painted the guest bedroom Viking. I tried to do the edging in the addition and finish all that up but I really truely can't stand on a ladder without bracing myself for more than a minute. So I did all the bottom edging and traded off with Joey to paint upstairs.
Monday. After painting all weekend and still not done (edging!), I'm going to my new job today. I really am excited but I know that will wear off within two or three days. I'm just glad I'm on days now. Tonight I plan on going back over to the house. I might finish the curtains before I go over and hang those up in the living room at least. I think I'll get the downstairs done today or tomorrow and I just need to finish up the upstairs. As long as the downstairs is all done, I can start to move my stuff from storage and into my new house.
