I went to work this morning and decided around 10 or so I wanted one of those peanut candy bars. You know the type with just peanuts and caramel that are little more than peanut brittle? i got one, brought it back to the dark corner of the dungeon that is my cubicle (I haz a dragon evn!) and, of course, ate it. That was the problem.
I have NO idea what was in it that caused the problem but I had a mild (mild to me who has had an anaphylactic shock a few time now) allergic reaction. After I ate it my nose itched like crazy...and then my throat felt a bit funny and my lips burned. I took my allergy pills (yea tylonel!) right away. It worked and I felt a lot better within five minutes. However, you know how you feel after you take medication? Yeah...I couldn't look at the computer screen too long and I could tell I was getting "giggly" (Ummm...little bunny foo foo going through your head doesn't help...)
So I stayed until 12:30 (half day. It's easier to stay half a day and get that on the time card.) and left. On the way out I saw two of my bosses (one of whom was the one whose shirt I re-sewed on Thursday. She gave me a thumbs up as I was leaving.) so I have witnesses that I was at work for at least part of the day. :-)
But, yeah, allergies are NOT fun. I think my head is together enough now that I can go to the grocery store and grab a couple of things. (It's down the street. I need food!) My lips are still a bit numb but I can breathe and I have that weird dry throat thing going on that always happens after a decent sized allergic reaction. (basically, it means the worst part of it is over and I'll be downing ginger ale all night after I go to the store to get some.)
