Well, first, I did cut out my gothic fitted gown last night. It's going to be out of really pretty purple linen and the light blue linen that I tried to make white. It does look white...in areas...which is why it's now lining for the gown. I'm doing the curved front bodice method. I just used the same pattern I used for my doublet and lengthened it for a dress.
A lot of interesting responses over at
sca in regards to my dog post. First, this trend of no dogs does seem to be unique to Atlantia alone (I might start going up to PA and over to DE where, according the to responses, they still allow pups!). Second, the no dogs rule looks to be an immediate reaction and not a thought out one. Immediate reactions are never, ever the best or the brightest...ever.
I'm currently thinking of posting over to the Merry Rose the idea of having "dog marshals" rather than bans. Yes, a good part of this is simply because I want to bring Miss Ginsie, darn it! but the larger picture (and the one that worries me) is the idea of blanket bans. As one person pointed out over in
sca, you don't ban all men just because a few can't hold their liquor. You also don't ban the intoxicating agent. You just kick out the person who can't behave.
Any thoughts on posting this to the MR? Or in general?
