For those that didn't see about the tea, please check out my post here for additional information. I know I'll see some of you this weekend and I think I can hash out further arrangements then. Right now, I'm just curious if more people would like the Lady Mendl's (sp?) tea or going to the Plaza? It sounds like Alice's is probably too small.

Thinking on costumes for costume con...It seems a shame to not at least have one "broadway" inspired dress. I'm thinking Belle's yellow dress from Beauty and the Beast (hey, it's on Broadway!). The thing is, there are about twenty different versions of this gown and I'm not sure whether to copy one of them or just make my own design off the cartoon...

I love the skirt. However, I don't think I'll find fabric like that in time. Yeah, I can fudge it and and just use sheer organza over a yellow silk but that goes against the "attempting to recreate" part...

I might take the cartoon one and add pink roses to where the skirt is draped (where there are circle on the cartoon skirt) but I'm not sure. Any thoughts?

Thanks to [personal profile] msmcknittington's suggestion, I'm looking over possible Belle's Pink Dress ideas. It seems...there are a lot out there.

Generic 18th Century

Another generic 18th Century but in red and gold

The video at the bottom of this page shows the actress (I think?) holding up the pink dress from the Broadway production.

I'm thinking of something like this for the bodice/jacket in a dark pink with a light pink lining for the collar and a flounced pink petticoat to match. I'm not sure yet though. Still looking and trying to decide -go with the Broadway original or re-interpret the cartoon...

Pleat trim, of course! And sew up a bodice. :-)

Now, I still need to add trim to the bodice and finish sewing the trim to the actual gown (it's pinned right now) but that doesn't take too long. I *could* just machine sew it but the gown really looks better with it hand sewn despite the hems already being machine sewn. Anyway, it will get finished!
