I did something stupid

So, the field trip was fun. However, there was one mess up that could have cost me my life. ::headdesk:: Becca, one of my co workers, had crackers and I was *starving*. I took one cracker, took a bite of it to see if I liked it and...tasted the lovely tomatoes. ::more headdesk:: I quickly spit it out, made sure that was what I tasted, and ran to the bathroom to take my meds. Thank God I actually tasted them and didn't eat the cracker. I'm pretty sure if I had done anything more than tasted it, I would be in the hospital right now and not sitting at home.
My throat got itchy and did start to swell prior to the meds working. I apparently looked like the walking dead the rest of the day. I just came home the second we got back and slept for four hours. I probably would have slept longer but Miss Ginsie refused to let me.
Now? I feel like I've been screaming all day at the Army/Navy football game. My lungs feel like sandpaper and my throat feels like someone poured steaming hot liquid straight down it. Yes, it could have been much worse and I'm glad I only had a corner of the cracker and even spit that much out but I'm upset that I was stupid and didn't ask what the cracker was made of to begin with.
Now, to go drink a heck of a lot more ice cold liquids. Maybe I should go take something for my sore throat...although not doing so will help me to remember never to do this again...
