The Black Pelican is a great restaurant in Nags Head, NC, if you are ever on the Outer Banks. I hadn't been to it before (we normally go to Miller's when I'm down there). The food was good but the drinks.....

Ladies, I think I have found a new favorite (pink!) drink. I was drinking a Key Lime pie martini (which is not pink) when the waitress told me if I liked that, I would love the mint chocolate chip martini. Now, I'm a rum gal. Rum, Rum, Rum! Strawberry Daiquiri? Yes, Please! However, this mint chocolate chip martini (which comes in peppermint pink) might just beat out the strawberry daiquiri. It was like drinking liquid candy canes dipped in chocolate. Imagine peppermint bark in alcohol form. It's the perfect Christmas drink and they have it at the Black Pelican in OBX.

Did I actually get anything done at the beach? Not really. I did do a 550 piece puzzle, a 500 piece puzzle, and two 100 piece puzzles. Hey, someone had to figure out if we had all the pieces. The 500 piece one was the hardest. It was a picture of the ocean, sky, and small bit of a beach, and a lot of tropical flowers. It took about 2 hours, I think. Maybe a bit longer.

Mom and I spent most of Saturday afternoon shopping. Did you know that K-Mart is more expensive than Wal-mart? Mom and I ended up just going to a bunch of stores and not buying a whole heck of a lot. I did get socks (needed those!), a microwave tray for bacon, and a few things at Claire’s but it wasn't a great trip for Christmas gifts.

I know what I want to get two of my brothers but I'm not sure about Joey. I have an idea of what to get Marxer. Mom is pretty easy. Dad, I'm thinking something from the Navy store again...it's just a matter of ordering stuff for everyone and bugging Joey to make a list.

Aunt Marlyn and Uncle Joe came up for Thanksgiving. Aunt Marlyn brought one of my birthday presents I had accidentally left back in May. It's a dog dish...in the shape of a crown. Miss Ginsie just needs to be reassured of her status, ya know? :-)

Speaking of Miss Ginsie, I have NO idea what spooked her the other day but four about three hours of our seven hour trip home (traffic was interesting. Thank God for DVD players in the car.) Miss Ginsie actually sat on my lap. She NEVER wants to sit on anyone's lap. It spooked me and Mom because she normally only gets that affectionate when she's about to have a seizure. No seizure. It might have been the big board Dad had in the middle of the suburban at the start of the trip. We got rid of that, though, at the beginning of the trip. It might have been jealousy. Shiloh had his own seat and she had her bed in-between myself and Shiloh. So, she might have just wanted to sit up higher than Shiloh. Whatever it was, my arm is only now recovering from being a doggie headrest.
