The yarn box
Dec. 6th, 2008 08:06 pmAll the yarn and almost everything in the box. There were 13 skeins of the pink, 11 of the blue, and various smaller amounts of everything else. The wool was meant for crewel work probably in the 60's/70's. I didn't realize how much was in there. I had started to go through the box, realized I liked everything I could see in it, and just took the box down to the lady running the estate sale.
I wasn't sure what she was going to say since the Bethesda area estate sales are infamous for their "Auction house" like prices. ($900 for a simple bronze bust that is only 8 inches high? Are you kidding?) So, I was hoping she'd say something under $20 or that I could talk her down to that. When she said $8, I happily handed over the money. :-)
The $8 also included the pretty brocade and a silk handkerchief for Ginsie. Ginsie needed a navy blue *something* for the football game today. The brocade is about enough for a Renn Fest bodice or sleeves. I'm thinking simple brocade sleeves with a periwinkle dress? Or a silver dress.... Hmm..
