First, who's going?

Second, after making reservations last night, I found out the hotel accepts dogs. Although I know it will be crazy and crowded, Ginsie is quite portable when she needs to be. If I brought her -other than giving me an excuse to dress up my dog probably better than some of the participants- it would also give me some piece of mind. I wouldn't be freaking every few minutes about whether or not she's had her meds, if she's had an attack, ect. I'd have her right there with me. The only bad thing, really, would be that it does get crowded and I know not everyone is appreciative of dogs (Really, I'm not worried at all about her reaction. Ginsie is amazingly good around large groups of people in costume given the SCA events she's been too. It's more of the "I'm afraid of/don't like dogs" people I'm worried about.)

I know I can leave her with my parents and they know what to do if she gets a seizure but I'd much rather have her with me where I can physically see she's okay. Plus, it would be hilarious to have a living fur accessory. :-) Oh well, I have until May to decide to bring her or not...

Awesome! I'll see you there. And, this year, I won't be in a completely different hotel.

Why not send an e-mail off to the organizers and see what they think? From what I know of them, they're friendly guys and would probably be happy to discuss the logistics of Con. Pups.

I'll look 'em up. There are pros and cons to both sides. One of the biggest pros is that I'll have her there with me and the pup LOVES going to "dress up" events. She actually gets upset when I get into garb and leave her.

Me, I think it'd be adorable. But I don't know how close and crowded that event gets, so I don't know how hard it'd be for the non-dog people to avoid you.

Honestly, most of the dogs I know are better behaved than most children and children are always allowed.

Very true! Actually, my Dad kept telling me last night how much better behaved the poor pup has been since I've switched her medications.

Last year, the event was...crazy. However, there was a LOT contributing to that. It was between two small hotels -not one big one- , it was the first event, and I really think the organizers underestimated greatly. This year is a different, much bigger, hotel. However, even last year, I was pretty easily able to find a gazebo or a out of the ways chair to sit down upon if I needed to get out of the crowd for a second or three. Given that, I'm sure it won't be too hard to just get to the sidelines, if necessary. Most people probably won't care either way.

I'm leaning, right now, towards bringing her simply because it would be so much fun to have a steampunk pup. Dad told me I need to get her googles.... I'm thinking an aviators cap and a cute little shirt.

:-) Yay!!! Ginsie is portable if nothing else. My Dad told me I need to get her googles if I'm taking her. I think a can of spray paint and some kids googles should work.
