Where am I again?

High winds, gorgeous day if you ignore the colder temps, and...brushfires? Since when does Maryland get brushfires that close down major roads and endanger homes? When did I end up in SoCal?
BTW, dear policeman or woman as the case may be, I saw that you had blocked off a road due to the fires. That's fine -I get it- but, um, given that the reason the brushfires started to begin with was wind plus sparks, you might not want to use flares next to dead grass on the median strips to block off the road. Just a hint.
It took me nearly three hours just to get from the I-95 exit off of 695 to home. For those that don't know the B'more/DC area -it should have taken me 45 minutes. Maybe. If that. ...assuming I actually cared about things like "speed limits".
Anyway, it was interesting when the fires started this morning. I was driving up I-95 and it's a perfect, crystal clear blue day when all the sudden, I get over a hill and..a cloud. A low lying cloud that is moving very quickly to the right. Seriously, it looked like a scene out of the movie The Mist. As I got closer, I realized it a) wasn't a cloud and b)was very slightly yellow in color. The smoke reduced visibility to about ten feet. Later on, that same area was closed down (they shut down I-95 which is saying something) so I'm guessing that's where the 8 homes were lost...
