So the stays came out beautifully except for one little thing- I used the wrong pattern. I used my Venetian pattern rather than an Elizabethan pattern. I didn't realize it until I tried the stays on and they wanted to do the V front open Venetian thing. *sigh* They are lovely, but I think I'll just go up to Joann's, find the matching linen (if I can) and add a skirt to have a perfectly lovely Venetian peasant outfit.
Before I do that, however, I drafted a new pattern for Elizabethan stays, cut out the silk and linen (and buckram!), and, based on the mock up, it should fit perfectly. I will have new stays, darn it! The rest of the outfit is just too pretty to leave at home and not wear just because I don't have proper stays anymore. (My last pair died a horrible death.)

Date: 2011-04-27 08:45 pm (UTC)I'm thinking maybe in the fall, just having a group of us go up for the day and do a tea and fabric shopping thing. By then, everyone should have recovered from the summer madness.
