So the stays came out beautifully except for one little thing- I used the wrong pattern. I used my Venetian pattern rather than an Elizabethan pattern. I didn't realize it until I tried the stays on and they wanted to do the V front open Venetian thing. *sigh* They are lovely, but I think I'll just go up to Joann's, find the matching linen (if I can) and add a skirt to have a perfectly lovely Venetian peasant outfit.

Before I do that, however, I drafted a new pattern for Elizabethan stays, cut out the silk and linen (and buckram!), and, based on the mock up, it should fit perfectly. I will have new stays, darn it! The rest of the outfit is just too pretty to leave at home and not wear just because I don't have proper stays anymore. (My last pair died a horrible death.)

Unrelated question - did there end up being NYC plans for Costume Con?

No. :-( Unfortunately, it would end up being around $100 per a person once tax, gratuity, and gas was all included which was just too much given how much CC29 already is. It would have left too many people out plus getting everyone there just wasn't working out.

I'm thinking maybe in the fall, just having a group of us go up for the day and do a tea and fabric shopping thing. By then, everyone should have recovered from the summer madness.

That's ok - it would have been a lot to organize!
