I went and saw the nephews this weekend. We had a lot of fun! However, I have one funny story to share:
Marxer kept saying he wanted "toast, and jam, and butter, and toast!" a few minutes before Dinner. Jeannie -his mom, my sister in law- told him no since "Nonna was making dinner and it would be ready soon." Perfectly reasonable excuse -unless you are three and you are hungry NOW. So, Marxer asks Papa (my Dad) who also says no. And the Marxer starts in the typical three year old repetition is key to success sing song - and just keeps wandering around stating that he wants "toast, and jam, and butter, and toast!"
Well, Aunt Sissy (me) hears this and sees this and knows that Jeannie and Papa are trying very hard to ignore Marxer until dinner time. Aunt Sissy raises her eyebrow and looks at Marxer. "Well, Marxer. I want a pink car!" I declared. Papa laughs from the other room. Marxer looked at Aunt Sissy curiously. "But I want toast and jam and butter and toast!" Marxer informed me again.
"And Aunt Sissy wants a pink car!" I told him. Papa interjected that I should get a convertible to which I informed him only if it's a '57 or older.
Marxer in intrigued by this. "Aunt Sissy wants a pink car?" he asked me. I nodded.
"I want one but I can't get one but I want one now," I told him. So, what happens? Marxer begins to look around the house for a pink car -toast well forgotten. :-) According to Jeannie, he does have a pink toy car in storage (which was probably what he was looking for). Marxer proceeded to look all around the house for Aunt Sissy's pink car. So much so that when Uncle Lee and Nonna came back (Mom had gone to pick up Lee from his apartment since his truck died a horrible death), Marxer was in the basement. When they asked him what he was doing, Marxer declared he was looking for "Aunt Sissy's pink car!"
And yes, he did eat his dinner. :-)
