Progress! I think...

First, I must thank my helpers, Miss Ginsie and Jasper. The evil thread did not escape thanks to Jasper and Ginsie made sure the fabric did NOT move.
And since everyone else posts their cats in odd places...

...I need to catch up! :-) Actually, I just don't think Miss Ginsie would fit. I suppose I could put the pocket hoops on her head but it's more fun to torture the cat. Ginsie just gets to wear her own pretty dresses.

The pocket hoops and the stays! yay!

The sack back, draped! This is just the mock up fabric.

The side of the draped mock up. The damask is attached to the cotton lining on the dress dummy.
So, the question; does it look okay to you? I've been staring at this thing and tweeking it for well over an hour now. At this point, anything I do to it looks...weird. To me. I don't think it really is weird as much as I've been staring at it for way too long. I'm sure it will look differently in the morning. :-)
The pleating graphic on the Marquise page was VERY helpful.

Date: 2012-01-20 07:27 am (UTC)The back pleats look good! The side pleats, I think you want to make face the other way, so it's stacked under the back panel - then the side seam of the skirt will line up with the seam in the bodice.
If that doesn't make sense I can scan an image from Costume in Detail that probably explains better! 2am, bad at explaining...

Date: 2012-01-20 12:52 pm (UTC)As for the mockup, I have no helpful advice, as you know I'm totally clueless about this style. But it looks like great progress has been made!
