Sewing update

Remember how I mentioned the jacket misbehaving last night? Well, Mom saw it today (she had to drop my brother off at the airport around 3 so she stayed over at my house until rush hour was over with) and didn't like it. At all. She didn't like the print anymore and told me not to spend anymore time on it. Okay....fine...but...

She still needed another "everyday" outfit since we'll be hanging out almost all day Friday, all day Saturday, and all day Sunday. She can't wear the silk gown all day Sunday because it will be hot and that just won't work. So, we went back to the brown linen. Honestly, I *adore* the way the dress came out.( saving the friend's list one cut at a time )

I want candy!

I got my corn free candy today and yum! I wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't dealt with the NaturalCandyStore.com before or a lot of corn syrup/corn starch free candies. My sweets have been very limited for the past year. Basically, Hersey bars.

So, I ordered the ricemellow creme, spicy cinnamon hard candies and natural gummy worms. I've now tried them all.

Ricemellow Creme I looks like a bubbly marshmellow creme with a slightly toasted appearance and it tastes like it too. It's a bit different than traditional marshmellow creme (even the sugar based ones Ive made before) with a more syrupy taste to it. It's quite good and I'm going to order more before Pennsic.

Cinnamon It's a great little spicy candy that does taste homemade.

Gummy Worms! I am eating them right now and they taste amazing. I will be ordering a LOT more of them in the future.

The order didn't take long and the candy was all well packed. And delicious. I think I need some more gummy worms...

Sewing update

The inspiration for Mom's latest gown:


She *adores* button fronts so, that's what I'm going to attempt to do. I finally figured out that "don't want my hips to look big" actually means not polonaised. Rather than a fitted back, I'm attempting a sack back. This should be interesting.

As some of you know, for whatever reason, I am terrified of attempting a sack back. I've gotten over it a bit once I saw the insides of one of the gowns and it had ties, not eyelets. Ties I can do...eyelets...they rip and tear no matter how much I sew them and fitting and...yeah. Ties are much easier.

I've already added the ties (twill tape!) to the back of the gown and I'm piecing everything together out of linen and dark green silk. We'll see how this one goes...
