I went to hobby lobby today and bought the fabric I've been wanting for a 1530's Saxon court gown. It's 100% synthetic but look at that pattern! I'm pairing it with a red cotton velvet I have.

The middle trim -what do you think? 18th Century, yea or nay?

I doubt you'd find a good silk in that brocade without taking out a mortguage for it. In this case, I'd say a good find!

The middle trim looks a bit heavy/dense for true 18thC. Fly fringe, which is what I think this is trying to emulate, would be fairly light and airy. Not bad though.

Lol! Too true. I think the last fabric I saw that was close was about $150 a yard. This one was only $10. :-)

Hmmm, I might use it for maybe something Victorian or Steampunk then.
