I should warn everyone that this is a) not about the renaissance and b)all about my beloved puppy and what she did bravely yesterday. I know I've posted her picture before so you can gather what she looks like and that she is only 22 pounds soaking wet. She is very friendly and loves people. I have to be careful when I let her outside because she will run up to our neighbors and say hello. Of course, our neighbors all adore her and just laugh.
Next door, they have a wonderful old golden retriver mix named Kale. He is the sweetest dog and is Ginsie, my pups, best friend. If Kale is out, Ginsie cries until I let her out. Kale will wait by our door until I let Ginsie out or he'll sit and "gaurd" the small passage between the fur bushes that the animals and people use to pass between the two yards.
Well, mom let Ginsie and Shiloh (her dog, a clumber spaniel with Tourettes Syndrome for lack of a better way to describe his personality) out without looking to see if Kale was out. Typically, Shiloh is all bark. He'll get very loud, sound very vicious, but when confronted, he'll run away. Sometimes, I've been able to snap him out of it and we all know to simply ask him "Shiloh, where's you ball?" if he starts growling. He's near-sighted, we think, and stupid.
Well, Shiloh went running towards Kale. He has his e-collar on (as shown in the picture of me for the 9/11 garb) because he keeps biting a hot spot on his back. Thank Goodness he does have it on because, according to mom, he tried to bite Kale.
Poor Kale didn't know what to do. Kale is a good deal bigger than Shiloh but he's a sweetheart. Shiloh was trying to fight him when Ginsie came running to the rescue. Yes, my little Cavalier/Cocker Spaniel Mix went to save the day.
According to Mom, Ginsie used her head to push Kale out of the way and then yelled at Shiloh before biting him to get him back. Shiloh knows very well that a)Ginsie is Queen and b) Ginsie is far better at fighting than he is. (They had it out once or twice. After the second time Ginsie grabbed his ear to keep him in his place, Shiloh simply sat there and looked at us for help. And yes, he deserved getting his ear bit. We don't bother to stop Ginsie if Shiloh deserves it.) This gave Mom enough time to run over and yank Shiloh back over to our house and throw him inside.
So Ginsie saved Kale and Shiloh is in a great deal of trouble. You can tell he knows he's in trouble but I doubt he knows what he did wrong. Mom was just amazed that Ginsie would protect another dog like that. At least we know she knows very well what the right thing to do is.

Go Ginsie!!

Major kudos to Cinsie for protecting the other dog. Looks like her protective instincts are all there. Shiloh is scary to me, even, so I can imagine how he looks to Ginsie. But anyway, it's just his mental illness that makes him scary.

She's the best $50 I ever spent. ;-)

Shiloh is no longer in trouble. My oldest little brother, Lee, has night terrors (he's five years younger than myself). He began screaming at the top of his lungs last night and sounded like Mom when she sees a spider.
Ginsie and I are so use to him screaming/talking to himself/arguing with himself at night that Ginsie actually groaned and rolled over. But I heard Mom and Shiloh run down the stairs and fly into Lee's room where Mom states she saw Lee standing on his computer chair, his head inches away from his celing fan.
She asked him to come down to which he told her no way because there was a snake. Mom "looked" around the room for the snake and pretended to take it out and flush it down the toliet. After she did that, Lee came back down and went back to sleep. (He's never actually aware during any of this. We tell him what he did and what he said when he wakes up. He never remembers.)
Shiloh was with Mom the entire time. When Lee got back into bed, Shiloh hopped up into the bed with him and put his paws over Lee to protect him! Mom had to drag Shiloh out to which Shiloh did give a small growl because he really did want to protect Lee.
At any rate, Shiloh redeamed himself via that act and is no longer in trouble.
