The green linen kirtle fits Mom perfectly. Yea! So, I'm just going to finish sewing it up and then hand it back over to her. She also tried on the Italian gown because I wanted to make sure that fit as well. Honestly, the Italian looked *gorgeous* on her. The color just went so well with her complexion. I can't wait until she wears that one at Pennsic. Although, she seemed to like to wear the kirtle more.

So Shiloh is back at Mom and Dad's. The entire weekend with Miss Ginsie and Shiloh was interesting to say the least. I had to make sure Shiloh didn't go on the carpet again (he did twice) and make sure Ginsie didn't throw up on the carpet again (she did once and then outside a few times because I figured out why she was so sullen). I ended up staying up until 3 am on Saturday night/Sunday morning trying to make sure Ginsie was okay (she got whatever it was up at 2 am but I wanted to make sure it was over so I stayed up a bit longer) and Shiloh stopped acting up.

I got half on the right sleeve panel couched. I might be able to get the rest done today. I really hope so! If I can get these sleeves done this week, that would be fabulous. However, I also want to get a couple of other things done, like repair my Venetian gown and maybe enter that into the A&S, before and after this weekend? I can bring my first Renaissance gown ever and compare that to my hand drafted 1560's Venetian with documentation...

Right now, I'm thinking of playing off [livejournal.com profile] silverstah's idea and make the linen into a Neapolitian Jacket (rather than an Elizabethan. I'm getting the red wool for that). I only have 3 yards of the trim which is just enough to line the opening of the hanging sleeves. I can line it with some orangy linen I still have, or at least line the sleeves with it. This will be a summer (Pennsic?) jacket. This with one of the high bust styles shown by Caravaggio should be nice for the summer weather...

Unless anyone else has ideas?

So they are blocking all sorts of things here at work. Such horrible sites as my friends page (I can still access my page? What the heck?), one of my emails, my radio, and oh, the most evil of all, my home owner's association webpage. I needed the maintenance number so I went to yellow pages, which, amazingly, still does work.

I can still read the news, search google (can't really click on anything, but I can see pretty pictures), and get into one or two things but this is simply not fun. Apparently, the problem is bandwith. According to the guys that run our internet here, my home network is a better set up. So, until we get more bandwith (maybe September, hopefully?), we are stuck like this.

Of course, the sad thing is I can still accesses almost everything on my blackberry. So, I'm reading my friends page off of that....

Yes, I do real work. But most of my real work is attempting to find ways to make our own web page application better. So...I search for similar products on the internet, or products that have features that I think would be useful, and see about implementing those. That's why I need the internet so much for my work!

...to portraits at Christies.

Very similar to what I've been seeing in Naples in the late 16th c...

So, Anne of the Thousand Days didn't have it wrong? :-) (Hint: Check out the french hood. Notice something?)

See? Dress up your dog is period. (Yes, that style is just barely out of period, but I do have other sources that show dogs were dressed to match their owners, pink ribbons in this case, or their owners heraldry..or just dressed up!)

More Italian Pretties

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] pinkdiamond for posting these and a heck of a lot more. These were just the ones I really liked/thought were amusing.
